Temecula Presents 'Rhapsody In Taps'
5 next Saturday then it might be a good idea to check out the Temecula Attorney Valley Museum Fall Bazaar. But dont go to the museum itself, as the event is being held at the Sam Hicks Monument Park. There will be lots of vendors there offering a great variety of wares from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. If a look back at the past is more to your liking, then the museum itself is worth some time. It soon will open a new quilt exhibition sponsored by the Hoffman Fabrics Company. The permanent exhibition at the museum is a fine spread of history from the early days of the Luiseno Indians, the Mission San Rey period, then all the way up to more modern times.

U.S. representatives of Murrieta and Temecula will forgo their salaries in the wake of the partial government shutdown that has placed 800,000 federal employees on furlough. "I do not believe that members of Congress should receive pay while the federal government is operating without appropriated funds," wrote Rep. Ken Calvert , R-Corona, in a letter Thursday to Dan Strodel, chief administrative officer. "Until the House of Representatives, the Senate and the President work together to end the lapse in government funding, I ask that my pay be withheld," wrote Calvert, who represents the 42nd District, which includes Murrieta, Wildomar and Lake Elsinore among other cities. Calvert in a Facebook post Thursday also wrote: "Earlier today I spoke on the House floor to urge Congress and President Obama to reopen National Parks, memorials, and museums.

Murrieta, Temecula Congressmen Forgo Pay During Shutdown
Call (951) 676-9463 to book in advance. But some newer winemakers, such as Cane Vanderhoof, are placing their bets on Rhone varietals. When the UC Davis graduate founded the Miramonte Winery in 2000, he focused on Syrah, Grenache, Mourvedre, Roussanne, Viognier and other wines grown in the Rhone Valley. Now Miramonte is offering fabulous wine tastings with sweet and savory bites designed to pair nicely together. Vanderhoof has also added live music to the winerys menu, a trend that has also picked up steam at the Lorimar Vineyard & Winery, which sports a music note on its logo. If you go, dont miss the Wilson Creek Winery, founded in 1996 by Gerry and Rosie Wilson of South Pasadena and still family-run. The winerys open-air Creekside Grille Restaurant (sheltered from the sun) is a lovely place to dine and sample their signature Wilson Creek Almond Champagne. And if youre lucky, you might catch a glimpse of the spirited familys mascot, Molly Merlot, the micro-mini pig in a pink tutu (and yes, she has a Wilson Creek wine named after her). Another dont-miss activity is hot-air ballooning over Temecula Attorney Valley at dawn, when the winds are mild. Balloonist/winemaker Dave Bradley of California Dreamin leads early-morning journeys floating over citrus groves, after which intrepid early risers are rewarded with a sparkling-wine breakfast at his Vindemia Winery.
