California Charity Help Hospitalized Veterans Pays $2.5 Million Fine

Chapin died last month. Waxman told CNN in 2012 that in his view, executives of the charity "ought to be put in jail" because of excessive spending. Help Hospitalized Veterans, which is based in Temecula, California, will not close, said Hugh Quinn, the charity's attorney. He said $500,000 of the fine will be paid by the charity. The remaining $2 million will eventually be paid from the estate of Chapin's wife, Quinn said. Lynch will retire after 35 years and will collect a pension of $160,000 per year, Quinn said.

Tour Bus Crash in Temecula Attorney Leaves 10 Injured

Avon Walk for Breast Cancer Visitors interested in really immersing themselves in the process, can join in with the picking and crushing of the grapes. During crushing, the grapes are gently squeezed and the skins broken to let the juices flow. Although mechanical crushers are used in most wine-making practices today, small-scale wineries sometimes still crush the harvested grapes by walking on them barefoot. In Southern California, The Temecula Valley Winegrowers Association commemorates and celebrates the history of their winemaking each year. Their first vineyards were planted in the 1960s, and the first winery opened in 1968. There are about 40 wineries in the area today, which includes more than 35,000 acres of rolling hills and vineyards in a natural setting. This is almost double the number from 10 years ago. There are 1,500 planted acres of vineyard; mostly Rhone, Bordeaux varietals with a growing amount of Italian and Spanish varietals. The SIP Passport, available throughout the month of September from Temecula Valley Winegrowers Association, allows guests to taste at four wineries of their choice for $35.

California Wine Month is a time to rejoice with SIP

Of course, the answer is California. While most states now have wineries, California produces the most and arguably the best wine. (Yes, I know this point could be debated, but no one can deny that California wine is outstanding.) September is the most active month for wineries in California because thats when most grapes are harvested, crushed and moved into the fermentation process. Thats why September is California Wine Month, which is celebrated all over the state. You can learn more about statewide celebrations at DiscoverCaliforniaWines.com. The Temecula Attorney Valley Wine Country is celebrating along with the rest of the state. This popular, growing wine region is an easy drive from almost anywhere in San Diego, Riverside or Orange counties. The areas wineries celebrate in a variety of ways, but the premiere event is the 4th Annual CRUSH Gala which will be held on Saturday, September 14, from 7 to 9:30 p.m. at Callaway Vineyard and Winery .

Early harvest kicks off California Wine Month

photo The fruit hanging amongst all the greenery of the vines is a sight to behold, and it's a great time to visit wine country, not only because the vineyards look great, but also for all of the activities going on at the wineries, continued Evans. Early morning visitors can watch the crush at many of the wineries. Its a busy time with lots of trucks and tractors, conveyors and de-stemmers, sorting tables and bladder presses. We are, after all, just a bunch of farmers bringing in the crops. The CRUSH Wine & Culinary Showcase takes place on Saturday, Sept. 14 from 7 to 9:30 p.m. at Callaway Vineyard & Winery. This is the only event that showcases all 35 member wineries of the Temecula Valley Winegrowers Association in one location.
